PALs Volunteer Day a Success! (Sept 2015)
Our PALs team, Parents As Leaders, shared lots of their time and expertise at our recent volunteer day on Sept 26th here at FCDC. We tackled lots of projects and the results are amazing!
Two huge projects we were able to complete included installing shade structures on our infant and toddler play spaces. Thank you to Robb Weidemann for taking the lead and helping me make our vision for these structures come to life!
On our toddler play space we also finished lots of items on our wish list including adding a shelf to store our water jug in the shade, painted and hung chalkboards and sanded and stained our two wooden gates (they look beautiful!). We also addressed a split in the edging of our sandbox to help ensure no kiddos get splinters.
We weeded and winterized our gardens and thanks to Trisha Larson, added great fall decor to the front entry!
Thank you to all the volunteers for coming out on Saturday to help out is so many ways. We couldn’t have done all of this without you and easily saved thousands in maintenance or carpentry costs by having volunteers help with these projects. We also had fun bringing families together!
A huge thank you to each of these families for all your help and donations to make our volunteer day such a success!

FCDC Continues Earns Second 4-Star Parent Aware Rating (June 2015)
We are proud to share the news that FCDC has earned our second 4-star Parent Aware rating after completing our two year renewal this past May. A four start rating is the highest possible rating and shows our programs commitment to quality early childhood care and education. Thank you to all the teachers and staff who made this rating possible and to the families who support our center and allow us the opportunity to provide a high quality experience to children!
Toddler Play Space Revisions Complete (April 2015)
Towards the end of September 2014, our toddler play space renovation was well under way. Over the winter, we spent time in the space and learned what worked well and planned for a few revisions this spring. Those revisions included replacing the slide with a shorter slide, lowering the height of the hill and reworking the bridge. These changes were completed at the end of April and made a huge difference! They give the space a better feel and allow for increased supervision of all areas of the play space. We are so fortunate that our partnership with Flagship Play made these changes possible!
We are also looking forward to making our natural play space more green and lush by letting the grass seed take root and planting more flowers and plants along the perimeter. While nature takes its course, watch for the toddlers making use of the infant playground on the other side of our building or on walks around the neighborhood. We are hoping to get back to using this space full time in the near future!
Improved Storage on the Preschool Playground (April 2015)
Our beloved old red shed was recently replaced by a newer version on our preschool playground. We are so grateful for the help Collin Schulz and Pat Schulz provided us to replace this structure. Our new shed provides us a safer space to store our bikes and other playground equipment when not in use or over the winter. The teachers and kiddos love it!
Annual Planting of Veggie Garden Has Begun
A huge thank you to our Dragonfly teacher Lori and cook Molly for prepping our veggie garden! We are so excited for this year’s gardening season and for the fresh veggies Molly can incorporate in her meal plans.
