Childcare
- Poohs
The world of 16 –
24 month old children is an exciting place, where
each day brings a new adventure. In the Pooh Bear
Room, we strive to create a positive, nurturing
environment that promotes growth and healthy self-concepts.
We encourage the children to explore their environment
using all of their senses. They have the opportunity
to safely touch, taste, smell, see and hear things
throughout each day.
The teachers develop lesson
plans each week with a different theme. We provide
it weekly to the parents, so you know what your
child is working on at FCDC. Each day, your child
will learn through a variety of activities such
as art exploration, sensory exploration and dramatic
play. Pooh Bear children sing, read books and
participate in puppet plays to enhance their language
skills. Children also participate in activities
such as cooking and science.
Teachers plan activities to
encourage:
- Language development
- Social growth
- Emerging independence
and self-help skills
- The development of
fine and large motor skills
- An awareness of cultures
and traditions
On Thursdays, we have Music
with Michelle, a special activity the kids just
love. We also have a movie day to add variety
to your child’s week.
This is the basic pattern
of the day in the Pooh Bear Room. The schedule
is adjusted based on individual needs of each
child. We may add and subtract activities depending
on the day.
6:30am – 8:00am Arrival/Open
Play
The Poohs arrive during this
time. As the children and parents arrive each
child is greeted by one of the teachers. The
parent will sign the attendance sheet and fill
out a daily note. The daily note aids the staff
in the care of the child during the day. A variety
of toys and activities are offered at this time
such as books, blocks or puppet play.
8:00am – 8:30am Breakfast
During this time, children
eat breakfast prepared by our on-site cook.
8:30am-9:00am Diapering and
Potty Training
9:00am – 10:00am Learning

The teachers set up the environment
to provide developmental learning opportunities.

10:15am – 11:15am Activity

If the weather permits, we may go outside to
the playground or for a walk.
11:15am – Noon Lunch
The children and teachers
will sit together and have lunch prepared by
our on-site cook. It is a great opportunity
for having positive social interactions and
developing verbal skills by using the words
“more”, “please” and
“thank you”.
Noon – 3:00pm Afternoon
Nap
This is transition time from
lunch to nap for the children. The children
nestle in on their cots with their blankets
and comfort items. As the lullabies play, the
teachers sit next to the cots and rub backs,
tummies, or whatever helps each child sleep.
When a child wakes up, they are invited to do
quiet activities or a teacher will take them
out of the room to play while other children
sleep.
3:00pm – 3:30pm Afternoon

Children will have a mid-afternoon
snack.
3:30pm – 5:00pm Activity
Time/Outside Time
Small group activities will
be offered at this time such as reading stories,
singing songs, learning finger plays and doing
art. If the weather permits, this is also another
time to get outside and play in the sand, water,
or snow.
5:00pm – 6:00pm Departure/Open
Play
Parents begin to arrive for
their children. Daily notes have been completed.
By reading these, families will have a good
feeling about their child’s day at FCDC.
We record feeding, napping, and diapering information
as the day progresses as well as notes about
your child’s daily activities. The children
will be provided with toys and activities that
are challenging to them.
Children are diapered every
2 hours or as needed. Those that are potty training
are encouraged to use the restroom as often as
needed.
