Family Child Development
Center is an educational nonprofit child care center
open to all children. FCDC’s unique approach to
child care is based on our philosophy that learning
is a social experience. We have a strong commitment
to meeting each child’s developmental and educational
needs. It is our belief that, with an appropriate learning
environment and the guidance of professional teachers,
each child will realize his potential—physically,
emotionally, socially and cognitively. To learn more
about how we work with children, read our Children’s
Bill of Rights and our Behavior
Guidance Policies and Practices.
FCDC prides itself in using lower
teacher to child ratios than required by state regulations
and most other child care centers. We utilize a team-teaching
approach in each classroom. In addition, FCDC maintains
a Child Development Coordinator on its staff to support
children who have special needs. These unique features
provide a nurturing environment for all children to
develop, grow and learn.
Programs Offered
Child Care and Early Childhood
Education
FCDC’s full and part-time
child care program meets the needs of infants, toddlers
and preschoolers. Children can be cared for up to
9 ½ hours per day between the hours of 6:30
am and 6:00 pm. Nutritious breakfast, lunch and snacks
are prepared in our kitchen and served each day.
Children transition to new classrooms
as they reach milestones in their development and
seek advanced learning opportunities. Teachers and
parents work together to plan transitions to the next
classroom.
Kindergarten Readiness
FCDC brings the preschool experience
to our kindergarten-bound children through Tigger
2s, our kindergarten readiness program. The class
meets each day of the week for two hours. Children
explore academic concepts and master kindergarten
readiness skills. Our innovative curriculum prepares
children for success in kindergarten and beyond.
Kids Helping Kids
In addition to our programming,
FCDC sponsors several opportunities for children to
participate in community service events. We believe
even the smallest child can contribute to our community.
Events vary, but examples include creating valentines
for hospitalized children and sponsoring a food drive
for hungry children in the northwest metro area.
Parent Engagement Opportunities
FCDC encourages parent involvement
in its programming and activities. Parents have the
opportunity to volunteer in a classroom, at an event,
can join the Parents As Leaders team, or volunteer
to serve on our organization’s Board of Directors.
